About Charlette's Collectibles

After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, a short stint at teaching took a back seat to an adventure called family and travel! Since my husband Charles was a career army officer, our family had the pleasure of traveling the world and packing as much adventure into life as possible.

Everyone who knows me, knows that I love to see "what's over the next hill" (my detours as they are lovingly called). This curiosity and sense of wonder about everything there is to see and do in the world has made for some interesting and eventful times.

Within all these life experiences, a love to design and create emerged. As I discovered this passion for creativity, so did others. Consequently, I was frequently asked to decorate the Officer's club for various holidays and functions, to help decorate the homes of friends and to create items for sale at charity bazaars.

I always said that one day I would own my own company but was never sure what it would be until fate seemed to direct me in the perfect direction.

After creating several items for a charity bazaar, friends and family encouraged me to sell patterns of the things I created. It seemed like a fun idea to me so off I went to my first trade show. At that trade show, the McCall's Pattern Company picked up several of the designs and so the new adventure began...

Several years later, a fellow designer introduced me to cross stitch and it became my new passion! The combination of my love for cross stitch and our family's extensive Santa Claus collection inspired the Hats, Hats & More Hats ornament collection. I promptly set out to design 101 Santas in this series (currently, we have 17). And, the rest is history.

I am so blessed that the stitchers of the world have responded so positively to our ornament kits. I am encouraged by the enthusiasm and sometimes find it hard to believe that the joy I find in designing can also be my career.

Due to the many suggestions we have received from our wonderful stitchers, we are adding items as quickly as possible. I do hope you return often for a peek!!

Since our family is the one of the most important things in our life, our logo was designed with our family in mind. It contains a young at heart couple representing Charles (an invaluable part of the business) and I, a dog representing our son Christopher who loves all the many dogs he has rescued and a bear representing our son Charles Jr. who has the most wondrous bear collection.

While proud of many business successes perhaps the thing we are most proud of is the American Cowboy Santa which was created after September 11, 2001 and presented to President and Mrs. Bush.

We have had designs on QVC and are in all the major mail order catalogues as well as fine needlework shops everywhere. Leaders in the industry also distribute our kits AND we are honored to have the best stitchers in the world. We are extremely thankful!!!!
